Tour description

Discover the icy beauty of the Alps in the East Tyrol Ice Climbing Park - your gateway to an unforgettable adventure in the majestic peaks! Immerse yourself in the breathtaking world of ice climbing, surrounded by snow-covered peaks and glistening icicles. Ice climbing not only promotes physical fitness, but also mental strength and stamina. Let yourself be carried away by the fascination of ice climbing and discover your own limits.

If you’ve already done an ice climbing course for beginners in the past, or if you have been climbing ice a few times but want to step up your skills and learn from a professional, then this is the right program for you. The Ice Park Osttirol is the perfect venue for practicing your skills.

Programme:

  1. day: Arrival in East Tyrol and check-in at the Matreier Tauernhaus
  2. day: You will meet your guide at the Matreier Tauernhaus in the morning for a briefing and a current condition update. Then we repeat the knowledge about our gear, climbing and rope techniques, and some top rope climbing in order to establish a baseline. In the p.m. we do our first steps in lead climbing and rappelling multi pitch routes, all within the comfort level of the participants.
  3. day: More lead climbing in the Ice Park with the focus on proper techniques, followed by video analyses. The biggest down fall of most ice climbers is the wrong technique, therefore they pump out too fast, get afraid to fall and simply can’t hold on to the tools anymore. During this day we try to shape you into a better and therefore more confident climber.
In the evening we go into route planing and prepare a multi pitch route for the next day.
  4. day: On the final day we will execute the planned multi pitch waterfall (depending on conditions and level of participants anywhere in the region). The idea is that you do the approach and climb independently and the mountain guide is only there for supervision, but he will step in with useful hints and suggestions for improvement.
